Testerman is a longtime supporter of the shelter, serving on the board for nearly five years. She also adopted her Dachshund, Lollie, from Young-Williams Animal Center in 2014.

 

“Janet has been an active, passionate advocate and thoughtful counselor for Young-Williams Animal Center for many years,” said Dr. Kristi Lively, chair of Young-Williams Animal Center board of directors. “Recognizing her talents, dedication and vision, the board confidently selected Janet as interim CEO. We know she will be a forward-thinking leader for the shelter and that she will serve the best interests of the animals, the organization and our community.”

 

Testerman joins Young-Williams Animal Center from a corporate communications management role at Scripps Networks Interactive. She previously served as executive editor of Knoxville Magazine. Prior to that, she launched E.W. Scripps’ custom publication skirt! Magazine as executive editor in 2007, and she started Testerman Cooperative Catering, a full-service, off-premise catering company, in 1999.

 

Testerman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations from Southern Methodist University and a Master of Arts degree in strategic communication from American University in Washington, D.C.  She is a graduate of the 2010 class of Leadership Knoxville. She is president of the Dogwoods Arts board of directors and previously has served on the boards of Leadership Knoxville, Visit Knoxville, Bijou Theatre and Appalachian Ballet Company, among others.

 

A Knoxville native, Testerman is married to Joey Creswell and has two stepdaughters, Georgie and Elie. They are members of St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral.

 

Testerman succeeds Jeff Ashin, who has resigned.
